Welcome to the website of Iain Dawson Paratriathlete
Iain Dawson is a visually impaired athlete who has established himself at the top of the world rankings in Paratriathlon. He has been involved in the sport since 2009 and was unbeaten during the following season, including winning the European championships and two World titles.
Iain, who has less than 10% vision due to a rare genetic eye condition, is aiming to maintain his success rate in future years. The long-term aim is to compete at the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games, where triathlon will be included for the very first time.
Paratriathlon is a rapidly developing sport with athletes competing in one of 6 categories depending on the type and level of their disability.
Iain competes in the TRI6 category with a guide who accompanies him throughout the swim, bike and run legs of the triathlon.
This website is called ‘Tri Team’ because Iain sees his triathlon success as a team effort involving many people. His achievements are the team’s achievements. Iain would like to take this opportunity to thank those who sponsor and support him and we hope you like the site!
